Taquile Island, Lake Titicaca, Peru, 2013: We had the opportunity to stay with a host family for around 3 days. The family had 4 kids, and all lived together. The father was the only member of the family who spoke a bit of english, but it was really fun to play with the kids, and they were so used to having American/ foreign tourists come to their house that they immediately asked for my phone to play with when we got settled in. This was a shot that I took on our last day on Taquile Island, before we got into the boat again to ride to another island within Lake Tititcaca. That day, we went to the unique and amazing Floating Islands of Lake Titicaca, which are basically huge stacks of reed like plants to form islands, surrounded by boats, houses, and other islands made of the totora plant as well. It was an amazing experience.

Machu Picchu, Peru, 2013: We traveled by bus up to Machu Picchu and started hiking through this majestic world wonder. We learned that the Incans built this structure, and it was kept so intact and hidden from the Spanish conquerers because of its isolation from other cities. I thought it was interesting that Machu Picchu was not actually a 'normal' city- it was actually occupied by teachers, students- it was so prestigious (like the Harvard of Incan times).

Hello London

Streets of London, England, 2012
We stayed for 10 days after Shilpa's study abroad trip and visited family and friends, went sightseeing, and had a great time.

View in London, England across the London Eye.

We traveled on a short but fun cruise on the Thames river and sailed directly under the London Bridges. We went to London during the 2012 olympics. Although we did not go to any major events, we did happen to see marathons for speed walking and running while walking around in London. There were huge "Wenlock and Mandeville" characters everywhere, which represented the London olympics, and it was fun to take pictures near the character statues.

Traveled to the Big Ben by Metro!

Paris, France, 2010: Eiffel Tower
Every night at midnight, the tower would blink gorgeous bright lights for a minute straight and then go back to shining constantly. One night, we ate outside of our hotel (Hotel de la Mare?), the night lit by nothing but the shining Eiffel Tower and the moon.
Egypt, 2010: Abu Simbel Temples. This was the first temple we went to in Egypt, and we were shocked by the heat of city and the size and beauty of the statues.

View from the Spelunca Cave Hotel in Kapadokya, Turkey 2010. We stayed in Kapadokya for around 3 nights, and sight-saw Kapadokya on Sultan Hot Air Balloons.
